In a move that has sent ripples through the NBA, the Golden State Warriors have added a versatile and dynamic talent to their roster for the 2025 NBA Summer League. Isaiah Mobley, a 6-foot-8 forward with a knack for impacting both ends of the court, is set to bring his unique skill set to the Bay Area, as confirmed by Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area. The announcement has sparked excitement among Warriors fans, who are eager to see what this emerging star can contribute to an already star-studded franchise.

Mobley, the brother of Cleveland Cavaliers standout Evan Mobley, is no stranger to the NBA landscape. Selected as the 49th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of USC, the 25-year-old has spent parts of three seasons honing his craft with the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers. During his brief stint with the 76ers in the 2024-25 season, Mobley showcased his all-around game in a single appearance, dropping six points, grabbing four rebounds, dishing out five assists, and adding a steal and a block. While his shooting percentages—28.6% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc—left room for improvement, his ability to impact multiple facets of the game highlighted his potential as a valuable asset.

Over his 23 NBA games, Mobley has averaged 2.6 points and 1.5 rebounds per contest, shooting 40.7% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range. However, it’s in the G League where Mobley has truly shined. On December 6, 2024, the NBA G League spotlighted his dominance, noting a season-high scoring and rebounding performance that powered the Delaware Blue Coats to a victory over the Nets. Paired with Darius Bazley’s third consecutive 20-point, 10-rebound game, Mobley’s monster double-double underscored his ability to take over games when given the opportunity.

Adding intrigue to his arrival in Golden State, Mobley has reportedly been scrimmaging with none other than Klay Thompson for the past three weeks, as revealed by Johnson on June 30. The two share the same agency, which could signal a seamless integration into the Warriors’ system. With Thompson’s sharpshooting expertise and Mobley’s versatile playstyle, these scrimmages may have laid the groundwork for a potent partnership in the Summer League.

The Warriors will waste no time showcasing their new weapon, as they tip off their NBA Summer League campaign against Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday afternoon. This high-profile matchup promises to be a thrilling debut for Mobley, who brings size, hustle, and playmaking to a Warriors squad looking to make waves. As Golden State continues to build around its championship core, Mobley’s addition could prove to be a shrewd move, offering a glimpse of a 6-foot-8 heavyweight ready to make his mark.
